KAYLA CULLEN'S REVIEW FOR LE DELUGE BY LADYLISH2
I had scanned 'recently updated' on Twilighted, looking for a new fanfic to start reading, and I'm happy that it had turned out to be Le Deluge by Ladylish2. It is written in third person, and it is done so flawlessly. This story is exceptionally written, and leaves you hanging off each word.
The pain that Edward endures while his absence away from Bella, is infused throughout every chapter, leaving you to feel the pain parallel to Edward's. One thing that I love about Le Deluge is how much Ladylish2 details everything, things you wouldn't even think of. It brings a special connection to the story, so well layed out, you feel as though you are there watching every step of the way.
If you love angst, this would definitely would be the story for you. Although it's not hardcore angst, so please don't turn a blind eye to this fic. It is written with class and maturity.
If you're a reader who wants to read a true love story in the end, but doesn't mind following the hardships first, this would be the story to grab. If you are into a well thought out plot, and an exceptionally utilized premise, this would also be the story for you. Lastly, if you want a mature story, which is played out in a way you have never thought before, this would, again, be the story for you.
Le Deluge is just starting out on Twilighted.net, and it's very suspenseful. It leaves you wondering what exactly is going to happen next. "Where and what is Bella Swan?" Is she really deceased, or is she "dead." Does that statement make you think? Good.
Here is an excerpt from Chapter 3:
“God, Bella,” his voice chokes out of him, muttering about him and muffled in his palms. “Where are you? You have to give me some sort of –.” His words have fallen dull in the thick air; have toppled like him to the ground, to land on hands and knees upon the greying carpet. Edward sighs, rising slowly back to his feet, but suddenly stops with his heart in his mouth. The floorboard beneath his feet, hidden under the rug, has given a distinctive loose creak. And the world now seems to hold its breath.
Edward is back on his knees before his mind realises, tearing up a section of the carpet to reveal the loose floorboard which in his memory was concealed beneath Bella’s bed. Not caring for the noise or the damage he is causing Charlie’s house, Edward pulls back the wood – showering dust and splinters into the air – and finally finds what he is looking for. Not Bella, but evidence at least that she was not just some bitter fantasy of his overly long existence; even the CD is still there, protected in its jewel case. He is no nearer to finding Bella, not really, but as he tucks the items into a pocket on his jacket, somehow he feels closer to her than he has in decades.
At least now he knows – no more answers are to be found in this house. He casts a last lingering glance around the room, standing as he brushes debris from the legs of his jeans. A soft smile, a bittersweet ache taking residence deep in his chest, the muscles of his cheeks tender from too long lying dormant, and he turns back to the window, stopped instantly as if commanded by the imprint of a feminine hand pressed onto the glass, highlighted by Edward’s keen eyes. Impossible even in the inky night that he could have missed this on the way in; it is so obvious, it is so fresh, new enough to have been left mere moments before, despite the locked door and decades of absence. And Edward knows that hand, has memorised its every tiny line, each of which is now smeared onto the windowpane.
Unquestionably, across whatever distance it is that now separates them, Bella is reaching out to him.
She is guiding him towards her.
